Critical to Candler’s mission is a new facility. Your gift to the building program will provide state-of-the-art facilities to support teaching, research, community life, and spiritual formation. In the heart of Emory’s campus will stand the University’s religion corridor, including Candler’s classrooms, faculty offices, the Wesley Teaching Chapel, a new home for the Pitts Theology Library, and Cannon Chapel.
The Theology School Fund for Excellence and the new Candler Advantage program seek to build on Candler’s long-standing commitments to student scholarships and contextual education with an initiative to reduce educational debt, a heavy burden too many graduates take with them into the ministry. In addition to enhancing need-based scholarships, your gift will provide stipends for students to work in churches and community ministries, thus addressing unmet financial needs with part-time employment and enriching practical skills with increased time in professional ministry settings.
Your gift to a renewed Lifelong Learning program will ensure that congregations and their leaders benefit from continuing education. Designed to address the changing needs of church and society both at home and abroad, this program will work cooperatively with local congregations, church leaders, and denominational agencies to enhance the effectiveness of the church and its ministries.
With expertise across the spectrum from the classical to the practical fields, Candler faculty members strive to enhance the quality of religious and public life. Your gift will create endowed professorships to recruit and support the best faculty, scholars who strengthen Candler’s commitment to serve Christ by educating faithful and creative leaders for the church’s ministries in the world.
Initiatives in denominational studies, religious practices, contextual education, and the faith lives of today’s youth strengthen Candler’s curriculum. Your gift will allow for the enhancement of these programs, ensure a strong student affairs program, and fill new facilities with international representations of Christian art.
A welcoming community to international scholars and students alike, Candler seeks to strengthen the teaching-learning experience with international exchange programs and financial and program support for international students. Your gift will ensure that Candler fully engages the world of the Christian faithful.
