Candler’s work is by no means cloistered. Students serve annually as interns and student pastors in 80 congregations. Students and faculty share their knowledge and experience in settings such as Metro-State Women’s Prison, Emmaus House Poverty Rights Office, Decatur Cooperative Ministries, Atlanta Alliance on Developmental Disabilities, and hospitals and retirement communities throughout the region. And Candler collaborates with the Michael C. Carlos Museum, the Center for the Study of Law and Religion, and Emory’s schools of medicine, nursing, public health, law, and business.
