The Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing educates capable compassionate leaders and prepares new generations of faculty to keep nursing education strong. Committed to nursing science, education, practice, and policy, Emory pushes the frontiers of scholarship, working to find new ways to strengthen the profession and improve patient outcomes. In the face of a worldwide nursing shortage, this is no small task. Your gift to Emory nursing is an investment in care, compassion, and service for patients and families at home and around the globe.
The late Peter Van Norde had degrees in law and aerospace engineering, an amateur pilot’s license, and a passion for gardening that filled his yard in Duluth, Georgia, with 250 roses. He was proudest, though, of his daughter, Linda Van Norde Benoski, a nurse practicing in New Jersey. She chose nursing as a second career because she wanted to care for people in need. In her honor Van Norde established a charitable remainder trust to fund a scholarship at the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing. He credited Emory nurses with helping him maintain good health since retiring to the Atlanta area 10 years ago, and he wanted to give something back. The trust will open nursing careers to talented, dedicated students who need financial help to earn their degrees. These Emory students will become tomorrow’s senior faculty members and deans in nursing schools worldwide. They will be among the best practitioners and researchers, setting new standards for patient outcomes and academic excellence.
You can become an Emory nursing partner through Campaign Emory. Your investment will help break new ground in research, prepare men and women for lives of nursing leadership, and serve vulnerable populations around the world.
