Transforming the World Together: the Power of Private Investment

The beauty of the Oxford experience is that it works for just about everyone. Oxford students come from a wide range of socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. They have varied levels of preparation. An Oxford education transforms their ideas about themselves and what they can accomplish. As a result, Oxford students excel in and out of the classroom as scholars, debaters, campus leaders, athletes, and community volunteers, a pattern of success that lasts a lifetime.

Only 16 when he enrolled at Oxford in 1944, Clifford Bell initially struggled with college-level courses. Through his studies at Oxford, he gained skills and began a solid track record of hard work that led to a long, successful career in business.

In turn and in gratitude, he is among Oxford’s greatest advocates and benefactors. He has made countless gifts to support scholarships, the Oxford Fine Arts Center, and Oxford’s planned library and science facilities. In fact, Bell has been involved in every fund-raising effort Oxford has undertaken since he helped found the Oxford Board of Counselors in 1970.

“Oxford was one of the best things that ever happened to me,” he says. “I consider giving to Oxford paying off an old debt—plus interest.”
